Building Trust and Connection
Horses are highly sensitive to human emotions. Working with them can help individuals develop trust, empathy, and healthy boundaries in a nurturing and non judgmental way.
Developing Self-Awareness Interacting with horses can provide valuable feedback on one's behavior and communication style. Horses' honest reactions can mirror a person's inner state, fostering self-reflection.
Improving Communication Skills Equine-assisted activities often involve non-verbal communication. This can help individuals develop better body language, assertiveness, and the ability to understand subtle cues.
Increasing Self-Confidence Successfully interacting with and caring for horses can boost self-esteem and a sense of accomplishment.
Overcoming Trauma
Horses can provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to process trauma. The equine-human bond can foster a sense of safety and trust, allowing for emotional release and healing.
The team at Geelong Equine Assisted Learning specialise at working with participants who are unable to engage in talk based therapy due to mutism and other communication barriers. Working within the herd and with our facilitators we create a space where clients are encouraged to use non verbal communication and connect with others within our community.
Developing Life Skills
Equine-assisted activities can teach valuable life skills such as responsibility, problem-solving, and goal setting. Bridging the gap between humans and horses to cultivate compassion and empower individuals on their journey of self-discovery.
